Review: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephanie Meyer

Title: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella (Twilight # 3.5)
Author: Stephanie Meyer
Published: Little, Brown & Co, June 2010
Number of Pages: 178 Pages

Genre: Young adult, Paranormal, Romance, Fantasy, Supernatural, Vampires

Plot: (Goodreads.com) Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits.

Bree Tanner can barely remember life before she had uncannily powerful senses, superhuman reflexes, and unstoppable physical strength. Life before she had a relentless thirt for blood...life before she became a vampire.

All Bree knows is that living with her fellow newborns has few certainties and even fewer rules: watch your back, don't draw attention to yourself, and above all, make it home by sunrise or die. What she doesn't know: her time as an immortal is quickly running out.

Then Bree finds an unexpected friend in Diego, a newborn just as curious as Bree about their mysterious creator, whom they only know as her. As they come to realize that the newborns are pawns in a game larger than anything they could have imagined, Bree and Diego must choose sides and decide whom to trust. But when everything you know about vampires is based on a lie, how do you find the truth?

In another irresistile combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

Personal thoughts: I decided to pick this one up on eSaturday when the hubs and I ventured into Books-a-Million. I had gone in to get the newest Women's Murder Club book by James Patterson. I was glad to see this one on the shelf - bought it, brought it home and started it. Unfortunately I am not quite done with it yet, but I will be today, hopefully. So far I am loving it!

I never thought we would get to see into the world that these newborn vampires had to live through while waiting on Victoria to make her move on Bella. It's been so interesting to read something by SM that isn't in Bella's POV. I am very much enjoying the story and can't wait to finish it.

Edit: This little novella was AMAZING! I finally got a chance to finish it and was glad to be able to see Bree's side of the story that ends in the clearing with the Cullen's and the Volturi! Now I'm totally ready to see Eclipse on the big screen!
